Fargo
Kim Todd, president and founder of Original Pictures, produced years 1, 2, 3 and 5 of Fargo in Calgary for MGM and FX with Original Pictures Alberta providing production services for year 5. The Fargo franchise has received 70 Emmy nominations including Best Limited Series nominations for years 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Year 1 garnered the Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice awards for best limited series, a Peabody and the David L. Wolper award from the Producers Guild of America. Billy Bob Thornton earned a Golden Globe; he and Allison Tolman each won Critics’ Choice Awards and were nominated for Emmys alongside Martin Freeman and Colin Hanks who were also nominees for the three awards.
Year 2 picked up the Critics’ Choice award for best limited series and the David L. Wolper award from the Producers Guild of America. Stars Kirsten Dunst, Jean Smart and Jesse Plemons each won Critics’ Choice Awards for their performances while Patrick Wilson was nominated for both the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice awards. Supporting cast Cristin Milioti, Nick Offerman and Bokeem Woodbine each received Critics’ Choice nominations.
Year 3 was nominated for best limited series at the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice awards and for the David L. Wolper award from the Producers Guild of America, in addition to the Emmy nomination. Ewan McGregor and David Thewlis each earned Emmy nominations and took home Golden Globe awards. Carrie Coon was also nominated for an Emmy award for her performance.
Years 1-3 were big contenders in craft categories at the Primetime Emmy awards – a testament to the amazing crew that helped bring this series to life. Along with winning the Emmy for directing and casting on Year 1, cinematography and sound editing on Year 2 and original dramatic score on Year 3, the first three years of Fargo received a combined 32 Emmy nominations in craft categories.
Year 5 has received 15 Emmy nominations, including 9 in craft categories. In addition to Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Juno Temple has been nominated for Lead Actress, Jon Hamm for Lead Actor, and Lamorne Morris for Supporting Actor.
