Original Pictures is a creative production company with offices in Winnipeg and Toronto. We develop, produce and finance feature films, television drama and reality programming and dramatic content for new media platforms.


Feature film slate highlights:

• Innercity Girl Like Me, based on the novel by Sabrina Bernardo, is being written for production in 2012 by Alex Zarowny.

• Trapper Johnson,  based on the true story of a massive manhunt, is being written for production in 2013 by Michael Konyves (Barney’s Version).

• Hoods, an action-packed, buddy police procedural with a twist… Written by Chad Hayes & Carey Hayes. In development with Shaw Media.

• Band Office is a half-hour television comedy set on the fictitious Soaring Eagle First Nation reserve. Written by Darryl Nepinak & Penny Gummerson. In Development with Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.

• Blue Streak , a drama series set in the commercial space race that might have happened had NASA not got cold feet in the early 1970s, written by Dan Petrie Jr. (The Big Easy).

People

Kim Todd, President and founder, is a film producer, executive producer and a television show runner. She spent 10 years as the senior producer for Atlantis Films, was a partner at Credo entertainment and started Original Pictures in 2000. Her work has played on most of the major American and Canadian networks and cable broadcasters and she has a collection of Canadian and international prizes including a win for Best Picture at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, a Cable Ace and many Gemini Awards (Canadian Emmy). Kim sits on the board of the Canadian Film and Television Producer’s Association, on the Board of Manitoba Film and Music and is past chair of the On Screen Manitoba, the provincial industry association.

Nicholas Hirst, CEO, is a former journalist and newspaper editor and oversees the company’s corporate administrative and financing functions.

Ellen Rutter, producer is one of Canada’s leading line producers and production managers (Capote).

Megan McElwain, is a leading producer of factual and reality programming.
