"Midnight Sun" is a $16 million feature film produced as an international co-production between Canada and Italy about a young teenage boy played by Dakota Goyo (Real Steel) who rescues a polar bear cub. Midnight Sun is produced by HD Productions srl (Italy) and Media-Max, RHH Productions and Original Pictures. It was shot between May and July in and around Churchill, Manitoba, Rankin Inlet, Nunavut and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The photograph on Original Pictures' homepage and the photograph here are both of the vista and production on the ice outside Rankin Inlet. Production equipment and crew were taken out to set on sleds pulled by snowmobiles.

The latest “American Girl” movie was shot in Winnipeg and Stonewall in 2011. Winnipeg-born Nia Vardalos returned to her hometown to film her lead role.
